We are delighted to welcome Keith Emmerson to the West Herts branch as our new Chair and we look forward to Keith’s leadership.

The Chairman’s Letter

May I first of all take this opportunity to welcome you all to this new venture with our e-Newsletter and hope it will be of interest and help to you all.

Having been elected at our recent AGM, and with no previous involvement with the Group, I am sure there will be many of you who do not know who I am so do let me introduce myself.  Albeit I am a Yorkshire man, I have resided ‘down south’ all my adult life.  After enlisting in the Coldstream Guards, with secondment to the Guards Independent Parachute Company, I joined Kent Police in 1962 transferring to Hertfordshire in 1978.  I retired in 1992 with the rank of Det Ch Superintendent and pursued my interest in Freemasonry of which I have been a member for many years. This has involved me with active participation with the various charities and I am presently Trustee of one of their main charities.

In my personal life I have been happily married for 55 years to Jean and have lived in Aldbury near Tring for almost 25 years.  We have a son and daughter who, between them, have given us 5 grand-children and 3 great grand-children.

Although I have no personal connection with Parkinson’s I am, of course, aware of the condition and, like most people, do know of colleagues who are so affected. Since my introduction to the Group just a few short weeks ago, to say I have been greatly impressed with the commitment and enthusiasm of you all, is an understatement.

Although my knowledge of Parkinson’s is extremely limited at this time, this will change and I look forward to promoting and supporting you all in the work of the Group and, in this regard, welcome your thoughts and ideas that you would like to see us introduce.

With best wishes to you all.

Keith Emmerson
